Release 30: Delegation

The main addition this update is the ability for your Forsaken to perform Punisher actions (impregnation, hypnosis, energy drain, and outfit parasitism) against the Chosen.  Aside from the obvious fetishistic appeal, this also has a strong impact on the gameplay balance, because each of the Forsaken will have her own special bonus that she grants when you use her like this.  These bonuses can either make the Forsaken herself more powerful, make the victim Chosen more powerful once she joins the Forsaken, or grant some effect that makes it easier to defeat the victim's team in the first place.  The full list of possible effects is in the new "forsaken reference.txt" file packaged with the game.  As part of this system, Chosen and Forsaken are now better at tracking who did what to them, and there's more flavor text for all the various possibilities.

Another notable change is that I've reworked the Chosen name generation system so that each name corresponds to a more consistent range of personality values.  Many of the names are now used by a substantially different kind of personality, and some of the names have been removed entirely, so you might need to rename some folders in your custom portrait packs in order to give everyone the right face.  (Edit: Fans of Kalloi's packs should note that the versions on the sidebar have also now been updated for the new name list!)

The last two major additions are related to making the game more user-friendly.  When the Chosen have enough trauma to perform a more sinful downtime action but don't have the necessary Vulnerability broken, text will appear during their downtime action to tell you as much.  Similarly, when you've broken a Vulnerability that would allow a more sinful downtime action but the subject doesn't yet have enough trauma to consider it, the game will report an estimate of how much more trauma is needed.  The trauma calculation is only an estimate, because the Chosen try to group their downtime actions together to help whoever is currently more traumatized, but it should give you a good idea of when you should be pushing for just a little more trauma and when you should be saving your energy.

Finally, the game now also has a system to estimate whether the Commander you've bought will be able to make any significant progress in corrupting the Chosen.  This is also inexact, because it only looks at the Commander's cost and the available Vulnerability Breaks, and because it can't account for player skill.  In campaign mode, the increasing difficulty modifiers might make the system overestimate what you can do with a Commander.  And of course, a skilled player might be able to do something even with a Commander that the system thinks is too weak.  This is mainly meant to help new players get used to figuring out whether it's better to spend EE or save it.  As a side note, when you have a "favorite" Forsaken set, she'll give you the estimate in her own words.

The next planned update is the one that will allow your Forsaken's close friends and relatives to attack you in order to try to rescue them.  That should have some interesting effects on both the flavor side and the gameplay side, so I hope that everyone looks forward to it!

  1. This may be my most anticipated update in a long while. Forsaken are becoming more and more interesting, and the game a long with them. A very good update, indeed.

    1. I'm very glad to hear that! Because Forsaken are completely under the player's power, there's a lot more stuff that it feels like you "should" be able to do with them than with the Chosen, and until all those interactions are implemented, it's hard to make them feel real and interesting. but I do think we're getting there.

  2. Got a question for ya CS Dev, Will we get Forsaken x Chosen scenes specific to Forsaken who have a Fixation with a team? Maybe scenes with Forsaken and the Chosen they've done a Total break on?

    1. It's likely to come up as a subject for a vignette at some point (sooner if one of my subscribers requests it). There'll also eventually be custom sex scenes that involve more than one non-player participant, and Forsaken who end up in a scene with the subject of their fixation will definitely show a lot of extra enthusiasm.

  5. I'm happy to see more distortions added along with content that isn't so damn bleak.
I know it's one of the prevalent tones / fetish around magical girls ero, obviously not going to ask for the removal of anything. I've just found myself not reading all the terrible things being done to those girls after a while.
Actually having decent fun trying to min-max stuff, attempting as many distortions as possible at once.

I like the game, just skirting around not really vibing with most of the fetishes.

    1. Thanks for the feedback. I admit that it's pretty dark, even with the graphic violence toggled off. I want to make something a bit more lighthearted after this. But Corrupted Saviors is still going to be keeping my full attention for the foreseeable future.

    2. No worries, I know I am in the super minority here.
I'm one of those degenerates that did a full loop back into liking everyone-is-having-a-good-time kind of ero.
Perfectly happy approaching the game as a maths problem.

  6. Can't wait for body modding and more functional customisation for Forsaken for sure. Love messing with the Chosen as it is, so with more interactions for ther corrupted selves, it brings much anticipation~ Whats set for this months release?

    1. This month is going to involve the Forsaken's loved ones (close friends and siblings) fighting you to try to rescue them. You'll also be able to do stuff like create two custom Chosen for campaign mode and give them a pre-existing relationship.

  7. Liking the update! I used a Forsaken as a commander for the first time, and I noticed that I wasn't able to capture flying Chosen with them. Is there a trait or training that I need for Forsaken to be able to fly again, or is the ability for Forsaken to fly/capture flying Chosen not implemented?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Right now, it's not implemented, because it would just be too powerful. Forsaken can repeatedly capture as many times as they want, so being able to capture flying Chosen would let you extend the battle forever. I'm interested in giving that ability to some Forsaken, but I'm not sure how it'll be handled yet.

    2. Perhaps once Angel/Devil chosen are implemented, the forsken versions can get a single flight capture because of wings? IDK. I agree that it would be absolutely busted from a gameplay perspective to be able to just continuously capture flying chosen.

    3. Yes, tying it to species is a good idea. Limiting it to a single capture might work, and I've also considered having it take extra Stamina for the capturing Forsaken (and having the flying capture be impossible once she runs out). I suppose it'd be possible to give the ability to multiple species but to give each of them a different limitation.

    4. It definitely needs SOME sort of limitation. Having multiple ways of flight captures would be interesting. Stamina for some of the forsaken that have natural wings sounds good. Perhaps cyborgs could have a one shot energy net to down a Chosen? Devil's might have a mass downing mechanic that grounds all of the chosen once without forcibly capturing them, and knocking the forsaken out of the rest of the fight? Devil's tend to be powerful magic users in media so it could be reflected in a large gravity magic to prevent a preemptive escape. Harpies/Sirens/whateverbirdpeoplewillbdcalled would be fine as a basic stamina bar I think. That just leaves (fallen) angels... And I don't have any ideas in that regard.

  8. In 30b, I tried campaign mode on easy, and tried to get my first three chosen to bitter enemies with each other before breaking them. It took me a while but I got there eventually, then went through their remaining vulnerabilities, getting all 12 to total breaks, and finally I got them all in an orgy that got them all to >1E all traumas and >1P all circs. And after the orgy, when that battle should have ended, the game got stuck, and I lost all that progress. It was using a lot of cpu and windows didn't recognize it as unresponsive, but I couldn't click continue or scroll up or select any text, and I couldn't close the window, I had to kill it from the task manager. Also it reset my options and cheat status but I still have all the scenes from that run.

    1. Got the same thing to happen again faster by not caring about relationships and just going all out with orgies. Got I think 10 or 11 total breaks. The last chosen shown had three traumas at 9.22E and 1 circ at 10.0P, rest of hers were smaller, don't know what the other two chosen were at since I was skipping through fast and they weren't on screen when it froze.

    2. Thanks for the bug report. I've been trying to reproduce it but haven't managed to do so yet. Seems clear that it's some sort of overflow bug.

  9. I ran into a bit of a bug that crashed my game with a Negotiation Chosen (Faith, Male). During my second approach encounter I was able to preemptively penetrate them before they could get their sexual barrier down, and when I clicked continue my game froze. I can try and DM the save file when I get home from work, if that would help.

    1. Thanks for the bug report, I think I've found what's causing it, so you shouldn't need to upload your save. It'll be fixed in the next version.

  10. I have a question, with Rising Publicist it says that the forsaken gets -2% own disgrace per parasitism but how does this work exactly?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Each time that forsaken uses parasitism (not sure if it needs to be a break or just using it), that forsaken's disgrace is decreased by 2 (or whatever the amount is based on it's stats). Keep in mind that mid-high disgrace is useful when training, but weakens the character for combat. That ability is useful for an early capture that you can train fast, since it will let you work off the disgrace over time.
Also worth keeping in mind that EE costs can be pretty expensive for very low disgrace forsaken. My highest two are an 871EE cost with 2 disgrace and 660EE at 6 disgrace. I also have a 6EE one with 76 disgrace that hits about as hard as them (4x-5x higher in the relevant stats), but that takes time to train, and time is limited (if you don't cheat)

    2. Thanks for the answer. Regarding the conditions to activate the bonus, the Forsaken needs to be the one to inflict Total Dignity Break on the target. If the target's Dignity is already completely broken, then the option to parasitize won't be there.

  11. 30b
Anyone else having issues with freezing at the end of training? Specifically the first day of downtime after loops end battle (excludes loop 1, occurs when pressing 'done' at the end of training. Appears to just freeze, no system strain). Can be avoided by choosing "pass time" on the first waiting/training day, but time's kinda a limited resource.
2nd thing, the changelog said 30b has a fix for old saves, wasn't able to get it to recognize saves from 29b or 28 though. It is integrated and not a separate dl, right?

    1. I haven't run into any issues like that during my own testing, but if you can upload a save right before the freeze happens, I can take a look and see what's causing it. As for the old saves fix, if your first screen when opening the game says "30b", then it's the version with the fix. But it's possible that there's another save compatibility issue I didn't find, so I can look into it if you want to upload those saves as well.

    2. Figured out why I couldn't get the old saves to work. Kinda impressed that I restarted with a fresh save file and didn't bother save on either of the last two versions (may have gotten distracted making an army of chosen, finding pics, editing pic, etc).
As for the other issue, that wasn't actually the solution, just looked like it due to bad bug checking on my part (changing more than 1 thing at once). It was actually caused by a specific forsaken who wasn't registering new forsaken properly (i.e. didn't give opinions on them, and they didn't give new opinion on her). Had Wild, Force Orgasm, and Grateful Breeder traits. HDOD was 57/74/100/76. Not sure if the Plea tier 2 and Hate tier 3 interacted poorly, or if it was some other issue. Grateful Breeder and 100 Obed interacting poorly seems like a possibility as well (gave her that position purely to check it out). That forsaken was renamed at some point as well, not sure if it was mid arc or between. Only save I have left with that character is just prior to recruiting it at the end of arc 1, so it'd need a full arc played, and no guarantees that the bug would replicate. If you do want it, should I just do a mega link here (could also send it via pm over at f95 if you don't want random people posting links here).

    3. I've run into what I think is the same issue a few times as well. Sometimes on the first day after doing a loop when I go to train or even pass time it goes to a blank screen. If it happens on the pass time screen I do have the option to cancel that takes me back but if it happens at the end of training it freezes up completely. After a few tries I managed to get a save that I can reproduce it on. Idk if this helps narrow the problem down but weirdly when I made a save on that first day before it happened it would stop happening when I reloaded, but with a save I made before the final battle I could get it to reliably happen again once the loop ended.

Heres the save if you still need it https://www.mediafire.com/file/y294mka994qcb31/saves.sav/file

Save called Bug? is the one. Commander choice and how I convert the chosen in the final battle doesnt seem to affect chances of it happening

    4. Thank you both for the detailed info regarding the bug! It was indeed caused by issues with the code used to register Forsaken's relationships with each other. This should be fixed in the coming version.

  12. I hope the next update will feature being able to mess with families and civilian life of the current team and not just the forsaken too.

    1. It isn't planned for the coming release. For now, I want to keep the focus on the characters who already exist as part of the gameplay loop, because tracking a bunch of relatives for each character will be either very complicated or very shallow. A lazy implementation would be worse than none at all, and there are still too many features central to the gameplay loop that need to be finished first.
