Release 12: Punishment

This update adds both the seventh tier of upgrades and the final level of corruption.  Four of the upgrades are new Commander types, each of which is associated with one of the vulnerabilities.  These new "Punisher"-class Commanders are cheap to use and deal extremely focused damage to a circumstance and the associated trauma, which makes them useful for targeting specific trauma thresholds while leaving the others relatively untouched.

However, the new Commanders reach their full potential against Chosen who are already corrupt enough to use sinful tactics in combat.  Every time the Chosen use one of those sinful abilities (Slaughter, Fantasize, Detonate, and Striptease), they become permanently weaker against the associated Commander.  Past a certain point, the Commanders become capable of impregnating, hypnotizing, draining energy, and possessing and altering the clothing of the Chosen.  Each of these corruptions will open up a method to completely defeat the Chosen once the final battle is implemented, and will also affect the options for what to do with them after they've fallen.

  • Content: Added the seventh tier of upgrades, all of which are Commander abilities.  The new Commander types can't yet be combined with the old ones, but they introduce some new types of content that weren't available before.  Another notable upgrade is the ability to capture Chosen who are already flying over the battlefield.
  • Content: Added the final tier of corruption.  The new set of core break scenes is less sexually-focused than the previous ones, but it does finally make it so that any team of Chosen can now be made mutual enemies, regardless of which vulnerabilities start broken.
  • Content: Added a new set of downtime actions and profile updates for the new corruption tier.
  • Balance: The rate of damage falloff for every order of magnitude above 1 trillion has been increased from 50% to 80%.
  • Bugfix: Corrected some incorrect Commander descriptions during the scenes where the Chosen escape.

  1. Did we get new Vanity scenes with the sex machine stuff in last releases comments or are they planned for later releases?

    1. They new Commander types are currently standalone ones that can't be combined with any others. However, the next update is planned to let you make a bunch of new combinations (including an impregnation-focused sex machine and a hypnosis-focused sex machine).

    2. Do kinda wish there were more scenes of the chosen all being enemies with each other tho. Have them all as bitter enemies but they dont really go against each other after their break scenes

    3. There are some downtime actions that will make reference to that sort of thing (like group combat training turning into two Chosen just beating up the third one), but it isn't currently described in detail outside the break scenes. Eventually I want to introduce a big library of vignettes that can play at the end of each day which describe their daily lives in more detail, and there'll be more of that sort of thing there.

  2. Also, Will we ever see an INJU/PLEA defiler?

    1. Maybe. One of the things I want to add down the line is alternative corruption pathways (e.g. a way to inflict Morality Break without taking the target's virginity). Those might involve new defiler actions that deal different damage type combinations.

    2. Sounds fancy, Was wondering cause ive got a chosen with an EXPO core and PLEA significant and was trying to break the core without the minors being broken.

  3. How to change the font size? On a high res monitor this is too tiny to read.

    1. There should be an option in the options menu immediately after opening the game for changing text size. The option you pick there should carry over to old save files as well.

    2. Do you think you could add another level of font size? I can't read the big text on a 1440p monitor and have to change my resolution down to 1080p to read it.

    3. Sure, I'll put it in the next release.

  4. I'm noticing a bug where Dignity Break happens when I use the Vanity commander. The special text for it happening occurs, I get the extra conversation after the battle where I get the extra points occurs, but it doesn't actually break. When I check the examine or profiles, it doesn't show as broken, and I can break it next battle for the exact same text, conversation, and points.

    1. That's very strange. I wasn't able to replicate this bug. If you check the profile during the same battle after breaking it, does it display as broken at that point? If you could upload a save where it happens, that also might help me figure out what's causing the bug.

  5. A question about the personality customization: Are all Chosen required to have at least one core, one significant and one minor vulnerability?
I tried to create a Chosen with two cores and two minor vulnerability and it doesn't seem to be possible, there's always one significant vulnerability.

    1. That's correct, they always have at least one of each. This is important because each relationship-developing scene happens between a Chosen with a broken core and a Chosen with the corresponding minor vulnerability. If one Chosen had two core and two minor, then the other two Chosen wouldn't have any relationship scenes with each other.

    2. Thanks for the reply.
Another question I had was that I noticed that I could somehow break the third vulnerability before the second?
In my case, the Chosen had 1G unresolved trauma in pain, so detonation happened when my commander captured her, at that point I hadn't used sodomize yet, but the third break still happened regardless.
Afterwards the profile page still listed sodomize as the next thing to do to break Confidence, but the post-battle actions for this Chosen were all clearly in the suicidal phase.
      Is this intentional?

    3. Yeah, it's intentional that it's possible, and it doesn't break any of the mechanics. The profile just shows the first unbroken level in each sequence, but it's still keeping track of how many times she's used detonate (and the resulting drain effectiveness) behind the scenes.

  6. Very interesting game!

As a note for future versions:

Can you add a cheat that disables the heroes special powers? (slaughter, detonate etc...)
Detonate especially makes it almost impossible to enjoy the full extent of the writing for commander captures.
Maybe story-wise when you completely break the vulnerability associated with one of those special actions, render it unusable by the hero?

    Great work anyway!
I will be looking closely at his

    1. Having it be a regular feature of the gameplay would cause issues, since they need to use the sinful moves in order to progress their corruption. But it would make sense to add that as a cheat, so I'll put it on my to-do list.

  7. This game is amazingly well done! I learned about it...yesterday? And I just don't want to stop playing cause it's so amazing.

Though I have trouble keeping track of the character's real names after a couple days if I don't specifically check, would it be possible to have their names be in their color during the scenes where they are using their actual names?

Thank you for making this game!

    1. I was looking at the F95 forum and saw your avatar is Venalita (had to look it up) from Looking up to Magical Girls! So I'm not crazy for thinking about that Manga while I was playing!

-Same person as earlier I only just realized I could put in a name

    2. Putting civilian names (or names in general) in a the color associated with the character is a good idea for when I get around to putting context formatting in. And yeah, I wasn't aware of the manga until it came up in discussion of the game, but I have ended up enjoying it a lot.

    3. In the last two rounds I've done I've gotten what looks like a negative number in the unresolved Trauma section and the final score ends up in a place that seems to match that the final number in question for the trauma is -7.01E ... So is it just hitting some limit and wrapping around or do the numbers just get weird at that point?

      Delete
    4. That sounds like a bug. Can you remember when it first happened?

    5. Sorry, thought I tried to respond earlier but I guess it didn't go through. I think the issue started coming up when I started getting long lasting Orgies (like 10 turns)

    6. Thanks for the information. Sounds like it's an overflow error rather than an underflow one, then. I tried to put in sanity checks to stop that from happening at every point where trauma can increase, but it looks like I must have missed at least one. I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know if you end up seeing the exact place where it happens.
