This update allows the player to send their captive Forsaken into battle against the Chosen. With this, the larger gameplay loop of converting Chosen into Forsaken in order to convert more Chosen is finally closed (although there are obviously still many important features which need to be fleshed out). The main functional difference between Demon Commanders and Forsaken Commanders is that the Forsaken can be customized to a much greater degree, but this customization can only take place through the training system, which is time-consuming. Some combat styles are sexier than others, but there are various descriptions depending on personality and corruption level, so every style probably has something for someone.
With the ability to use Forsaken in battle comes the ability to spend your days training the Forsaken instead of fighting the Chosen. This will eventually become an important strategic element of the campaign mode, but right now it's completely optional, as using the free training option from the main menu doesn't pass time. Because your roster of Forsaken isn't attached to any single playthrough, your Forsaken will be somewhat "unstuck in time," continuing to progress their skills and retain their stats even if you load a previous save. This is very easily abused, so when playing on hard mode, in order to preserve the difficulty, Forsaken cannot be used.
It's currently often difficult to make use of the Forsaken due to the incompleteness of the training system. In particular, the EE cost to deploy Forsaken depends on their Disgrace corruption level, and without the higher-tier training actions, it isn't possible to break them down to the point where their costs become reasonable for anything before the extreme endgame. This can be alleviated somewhat by using Forsaken who had suffered high-tier Dignity Breaks as Chosen, but the uncorrupted Forsaken made with the "Generate Forsaken" option are pretty much only usable with heavy cheating.
From here, there are many directions in which the development of Corrupted Saviors could go. I'll be making a post early next month detailing the features I want to add in the foreseeable future, and I'll be taking feedback regarding which of those features should receive higher priority.

- Content: Playthroughs on save files with Forsaken can now use those Forsaken in place of the usual Demon Commanders. Note that this feature is disabled on hard mode, but Forsaken converted on a hard mode playthrough can still be used on easy and normal mode playthroughs.
- Content: Playthroughs on normal or easy mode on save files with Forsaken can now spend days training their Forsaken instead of fighting. This requires purchasing the Focus upgrade first.
- Interface: The profile tips for tier-1 Breaks now provide a bit more information regarding how to achieve them.
- Interface: The profile tip for how to achieve tier-3 Confidence Break is now more specific about which type of Commander is needed.
- Interface: The Psychic Reading corruption summary now also displays the bonuses for reaching Lv 2 circumstance damage for the first time. It also displays when the Chosen have reached the trauma threshold for tier-3 Breaks (but have not yet used the associated action) and when they've reached the Punisher effectiveness threshold for tier-4 Breaks (but have not yet been targeted by the associated Commander).
- Bugfix: Male and futanari Chosen will no longer always become full female upon being converted into Forsaken.
- Bugfix: Chosen who have shifted from female to futanari will no longer have lines implying they were previously male.
- Bugfix: New games started on normal mode when Forsaken are on the save file will no longer get caught in an endless loop of downtime actions.
- Bugfix: Chosen should no longer give the "first meeting ever" reaction upon their first time meeteing one of the Forsaken each day.
- Bugfix: Forsaken should no longer forget each other's identities.
- Bugfix: Spending days training Forsaken should no longer sometimes make it impossible to return to fighting the Chosen on that save file.
- Bugfix: The game should no longer crash when low-Motivation Forsaken decide to throw a tantrum.
- Bugfix: The game should no longer sometimes crash when trying to save new Forsaken.
- Bugfix: Forsaken will now properly need some time to rest after a strenuous training session.
- Bugfix: Fixed a training crash caused by the prior bugfix.
CSDev you've consistently made these monthly releases so big props to you (Don't feel obligated by them though). Looking forward to checking out the new systems.
ReplyDeleteOne step closer to magia baizer
Hope you enjoy it! Incidentally, I'd probably stat Baiser up as a Forsaken with middling-to-high Deviancy but all other corruption parameters low. And an EXPO-focused combat style, obviously.
DeleteJust don't do as the OTHER game does with promises of releases and subsequent delays and all will be gravy, keep truckin' on.
DeleteKinda sad we can't to Breaks with the Forsaken yet, But woot the femdom/lesdom intensifies with this update!
ReplyDeleteBeing able to use the Forsaken to break vulnerabilities is definitely planned as part of the "special move" system. This update is pretty much just the basic functionality.
DeleteI see. Finally figured out the training system and how to manipulate Hate/Pleasure ect to give you specific fighting styles. Rather intuitve once you figure it out. Can't wait till we get Forsaken x Forsaken training activites and all the fun that'll bring... heres to hoping for some edging from a cruel forsaken.
DeleteIt'll definitely happen, but all the single-Forsaken training activities need to go in first, and there are still many more to go.
DeleteAVIRA antivirus thinks R18b Corrupted Saviors.exe is malware https://www.avira.com/en/support-threats-summary/7952?track=1.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't trigger for R17.
Seems like it's just the .exe version that's getting some false positives. After some investigation, some devs apparently have the .exe just "launch" the .jar rather than "wrapping" it in order to minimize this issue. If it gives people peace of mind, I'll look into that.
DeleteFound a bug. Switching from Violence on to Violence off then starting a fight and retreating causes the continue option to continue looping with no end.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't able to reproduce this issue, but I did just put out a bugfix for something that looks similar. Is this still happening to you?
DeleteNope. the 18b version seems to have fixed it
DeletePossibly dumb question, but is "surround" disabled when you're using Forsaken?
ReplyDeleteI tried using one of my old Forsaken against a new team, but all I could do is capture, not surround. (Even though I should have been able to get 10+ surround combos)
Nope. Works fine for me.... Might be that you're not targetting the right stat?
DeleteI wasn't able to reproduce this one either. If you can upload a save where it reliably happens, I could take a look.
DeleteI have a forsaken I got from a victory savefile but she just falls in stats regardless of what training I do, I even tried just spamming one training but even then the stats fall.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure that the stats are just falling? When the stat gains are small relative to the total amount, the game will move points around rather than just adding them. If you're losing stats but not gaining any in return, then that's definitely a bug.
DeleteWhatever training I give her she only gains like 45 points instead of the usual 800+ is that normal?
DeleteThat does sound really low. Could you paste the text you get when training her?

Edge will go out in public and then submit herself to everyone's ridicule and abuse. Even the people that don't have any reason to hate her will be tempted to join in on the fun.

Edge heads out into public, where a crowd of people quickly takes notice of her. She gets down on her knees, bows her head, and then begins to speak. She speaks freely about how weak and frightened she feels, making sure that everyone present knows that she's at their mercy.
At first, the crowd is interested, but they soon grow bored and begin pelting Edge with garbage and shouting over her. Once it's obvious that there's no point in trying to continue, Edge hangs her head, conserving her energy.
PLEA/INJU -> 372 Exp -> HATE/EXPO
+43 Exp HATE/EXPO
It's still moving around 400 Exp between her expertise stats, so that seems to be working. But her total expertise stats should be going up over time (even if only slowly), so it's weird that they're all lower than the starting value. Something must not be working right. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, I'll try to fix it.
DeleteIt's happening in 18e as well with a different forsaken this time.
DeleteThe continue option after combat continually loops almost everytime i use a commander or forsaken in a fight.
ReplyDeleteI think I might've fixed the issue you were running into in the bugfix releases. Are you still running into this in version 18c?
DeleteI have not tried version 18c yet. I'll let you know if the problem persists.
DeleteI am still having this issue. I've tested all the different commander types to see if any will allow me to continue, but the continue button after all of the post combat events are finished loops continually.
DeleteWhen I changed from v.17 to v.18b I copied my old save files and pasted them into v.18b's main folder. I then started a new game of 3 male chosen and was able to continue normally until day 24 where the continue loop started.
I also copied the save from v.18b to v.18c and there was no difference in my tests.
DeleteThanks for bringing this one to my attention, I think I've finally managed to fix it in version 18d.
DeleteHello again! So 18d and 18e didn't actually fix the issue in my save, so I figured it had something to do with the save itself. I ended up just starting anew on 18e and haven't run into any issues so far. After looking at my old save I realized that I somehow pulled off a sequence break and didn't get the lvl 2 breaks on a couple of my chosen but I got the lvl 3 breaks. Maybe that had something to do with it? Either way, doesn't matter much anymore. I'm just breaking in a new group of chosen for me to toy with.
DeleteBy the way, I want to let you lnow how much I absolutely LOVE Corrupted Saviors! It's the best H Game I've played all year. My first run was completely blind and I got completely crushed by the Chosen. I still had a ton of fun though! So I used your tips and the (Incredible) tutorial and I've continued to get better and better at the game. It's really fun, and of course, really sexy.
TL;DR
I started a new game without carrying me new saves. Working perfectly now. The game is awesome and so are you.
Thank you for saying so! I looked at the code some more and I can see how the fix might not work for old save files. If you still want to recover that team, I think you might be able to do so by turning off the commentary feature from the main menu before loading your save.
DeleteI'll give that a try tonight to see if that works if not just to give it a shot.
DeleteWhen I finish a final battle on day 50 with a cheat save and win, the continue button stays "blue" as if I am holding it down and I can't click it. I tried it on both the exe and the jar with the same result.
ReplyDeleteI think this bug was introduced in 18c. Version 18d should fix it.
DeleteI get the same bug when I try to train forsaken in 18d now.
DeleteThe fix ended up breaking something else. It should all be working in 18e.
DeleteVery interested in the modifications we'll get to do on the chosen other then their fighting styles for sure... will we get to influence their weapons and such?
ReplyDeleteI think that their choice of weapon will be one of those "You can give them wahtever you want without gameplay repercussions" cosmetic traits. However, I want to provide a better selection of presets so that you can get more flavor text than you currently get with Chosen custom weapons (and I want to do this for both Chosen and Forsaken).
DeleteWoot. More flavour text sounds great! Tho more combat variety through weapon choices and such would be interesting ngl. Welp. Hopefully the Forsaken special moves thing will make it more interesting too. Hmm thats a question. Will the Chosen ever wisen up to the threat of the Forsaken and learn ways to counter act/ destroy them?
DeleteI've considered introducing some sort of "reverse corruption" angle where the Chosen can actually manage to convert the Forsaken back to the good guys' side. But I think that has the potential to be really unsatisfying since the whole point of the Forsaken is supposed to be that you've defeated them completely, so I'm probably not ever going to implement anything like that.
DeleteI was wondering if save editing your forsaken is possible for a run where I have one "super forsaken" to casually beat down chosen but notepad++ gave me very little.
ReplyDeleteI could see myself introducing a cheat to that effect at some point. But in the meantime, I'm not sure whether it's possible to do it with save editing. I'm not familiar with save editing in Java.
DeleteIt would be nice to have a button that just slaps 500k on all combat stats for a forsaken or something along those lines. That would open for the possibility to make custom playthroughs.
DeleteThe amount of extra damage given by expertise falls off exponentially, so I'm worried that it'd feel underwhelming. But even if there's a cheat to just max out the damage values, the combat descriptions wouldn't reflect that, so that might not be satisfying either. As more options for Forsaken get added (like special moves and such), I'll look into including more ways to make them come across as extra powerful so that you can have a proper one-sided beatdown.
DeletePlaying through the game again and I realized a possible addition. Sometimes, I'm just doing a battle where nothing is really accomplished just because I need more EE to make an effective commander or buy the next upgrade that'll help me progress. An option to spend a day "building energy", where there's no battle and the Chosen get a free day to "relax" (reducing trauma and giving more EE), and possibly get a free point of EE, might be a good way to speed up the gameplay and avoid "dead" days.
ReplyDeleteAdmittedly, having Forsaken training fully implemented might solve this already, but it would still be an idea for early games when the player might not have any Forsaken to train.
Thanks for the feedback. I'll consider this, but I want to include more Forsaken options first, since I don't ever want players to feel like they "need" to take the boring option that gives more EE when they'd rather be doing something sexy directly with the Chosen or the Forsaken. Ideally, players should have some Forsaken to train during pretty much every playthrough other than their very first one.
