It's now been two years since the first public release of Corrupted Saviors. I'm grateful to everyone who's continued to follow the project up to this point. The goal I set last year was to provide the player some satisfying payoff for successfully corrupting the Chosen, and while there's certainly still room to improve, I think that the Forsaken-related content is coming together nicely. The coming year will be focused on providing more different ways for breaking the Chosen, from implementing more Distortion paths to adding more acknowledgement and reactions depending on the precise method the player uses (the order of the Breaks, whether Commanders or Forsaken are used, and so on). One of the main draws of Corrupted Saviors as compared to other corruption games is the flexibility of the exact corruption path each character is subjected to, and I think it's important to build on that.
As for this update in particular, the main added feature is the ability to use custom Chosen in campaign mode. In addition to importing existing teams, you can also create single custom Chosen using a new more in-depth customization process which also includes an option to directly input each personality value. Rosters of custom Chosen can be exported from your save file and imported by other players, and in combination with the portrait system, I hope that this encourages everyone to check out the teams shared by other players and perhaps share some teams of their own.
During the code refactor to allow custom Chosen in campaign mode, it was also convenient to add the ability for Chosen who flee one loop's final battle to show up in later loops. Chosen who have been thoroughly corrupted (i.e. at least one Total Break) will disappear after the final battle as detailed in their epilogues, but others will return to try to avenge or rescue their corrupted comrades. These returning Chosen will be somewhat rehabilitated (they'll stop using Slaughter, Fantasize, etc. until you corrupt them again), but other corruption parameters (notably Tempt progress) will remain the same. Furthermore, there are special interactions when you use a Forsaken former teammate against a returning Chosen. If the relationship between the two was positive, this will cost extra Motivation, but the increased capture duration and damage are considerable.
Custom Superior Chosen and returning Superior Chosen will always remain Superior. However, regular custom Chosen and returning Chosen can also end up being upgraded to the Superior class. This provides some incentive for the player to follow the standard villain tactic of "I'll allow you to escape in order to become stronger and fight me again."
In lieu of adding new vignettes this month, I made some extra variants for the tier-3 Morality and Confidence Core Break scenes (i.e. the ones where the subject assaults one of her teammates). Now, if the would-be victim is on the Tempt path, things won't quite go as the attacker had planned. This will leave the corresponding Minor Vulnerabilities intact so that the scenes don't interfere with continuing the Tempt path. The later Distortions, once they're added, will also come with alternative scenes which preserve the relevant Vulnerabilities.
Finally, one of the game's subscribers has also generously produced a complete portrait pack which I've linked in the sidebar. Kalloi's portrait pack is notable for being all original art and for including separate civilian, Forsaken, and Superior variations, along with all combinations thereof. I'm going to continue expanding the default portrait pack just because I think it's important for the game to stand on its own without separate downloads, but I strongly recommend that you all give it a try with the new update!

Hell yeah! I'm always so happy to see a new update every month. Also, props to Kalloi! I've enjoyed seeing your progress over the many weeks youve spent working on the image pack! I'm interested in seeing the new Tier-3 interaction with Tempted chosen.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the praise! You were the first one the forum to ask about my image pack and motivated me to show the previews on there so thank you for the support and enthusiasm also! :D I’ll continue to update the pack until eventually every name has a unique design with them! I’m also looking forward to the new tier 3 interactions and the new strategies with chosen now returning from battle
DeleteI'm eager to hear feedback regarding whether this makes Distortion paths less annoying to pursue.
DeleteHappy new year, and to another new year without a single "so sorry sorry for long delay/lack of progress" and consistent releases!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the encouragement! There are always features which I hope to include in each release, but which I don't have the time to implement. But so far, it seems like just releasing whatever I'm able to finish by the end of the month results in enough content to be worthwhile.
DeleteWas there a plan to sort of "romance" the Saviors or did I just read that somewhere?
ReplyDeleteIt is planned, depending on how flexible your definition of "romance" is. You'll be able to have one-on-one consensual encounters with both Chosen and Forsaken, including some non-sexual activities you can do together. I want to add it soon after finishing the last training actions.
DeleteI can't the way to create a customized forsaken, did I misunderstood or am I just to dumb to find how you do it ?
ReplyDeleteGreat work however.
Currently, the only way to make customized Forsaken is to make customized Chosen and then corrupt them. I want to add more customization options for Forsaken, but I'm not there yet.
Deletehi i cant find how to start the campaign with a lower difficulty or the cheats enabled. Can you help?
ReplyDeleteStarting a campaign in cheat mode works the same as starting a single playthrough in cheat mode. It normally appears in the options screen if you have a completed playthrough on your save, but you can force the option to appear by pressing the "c" key on your keyboard while on the options screen.
DeleteThanks for all the work on the game so far, looking forward to what it will look like by the end of this year. After managing to get my first tempted chosen im especially looking forward to more distortions to add more variety to both chosen battles and the forsaken rosters we can build up.
ReplyDeleteI hope it meets your expectations!
DeleteWell, I can't comment through Subscribestar. So I'll do it here lol.
ReplyDelete"new personality that's much more fitting: lewd, sadistic, and utterly devoted to the Demon Lord."
Well. If one sentence could make me more excited for a game I don't know if you could find one. Lewd Sadistic domme sounds like the perfect forsaken. And Damn I'm looking forward to this hehe.
Hope we get some facesitting or buttstuff in this path lol
Probably not specifically with this path, but Forsaken who were corrupted this way will show off some of the existing high Hostility/Deviancy/Obedience content that players might not have seen yet.
DeleteSounds good either way lol. If we get some more dommy stuff from the forsaken I certainly don't see any reason to complain lol.
DeleteQuestion csDev. Are we ever going to get joint tempt actions? Like how we can have two chosen interact in an orgy?
ReplyDeleteOr perhaps unique interactions between Chosen going down the same Distortion Paths?
DeleteJoint Tempt actions were originally planned, but the number of different variations just would have taken too much time to write compared to how often people will usually see them. I had to cut it in order to finish the update by the end of the month. But if I have extra time, I'd certainly still like to add them.
DeleteUnique interactions between Chosen going down Distortion paths are partly implemented. When a Chosen with Core Morality/Confidence starts going down the Tempt path, the break scene is significantly different when the Chosen with Minor Morality/Confidence is already also on the Tempt path. I want to go further with this, maybe adding some vignettes or other scenes, and I also want some unique interactions for "overlapping" Distortion paths (e.g. the HATE/PLEA path overlapping with the PLEA/EXPO one). The Aversion path won't have any overlap with the Temptation one, so it'll be at least a couple of months until we see those.
Ooo! That'll be awesome! You get so much done every month already that its understandable you can't fit everything you want to include. Maybe once you've gotten a comfortable amount of updates under your belt, you could do something like a catch-up month? Take some time to implement some of the things you didn't have time for and want to circle back to. As for now... I'll have to check out that interaction between Tempted Chosen when I find the time.
DeleteIt's always a pleasure to see you interacting with your player base. I hope youre doing well!
A catch-up month is a nice dream, and I'm sure I'll be able to do something like that at some point, but there are still several major gameplay features (notably the remaining Distortion paths) that need to be done before I'd seriously consider it. In any case, I'm still enjoying adding those new features, and I appreciate your continued support!
DeleteI was playing around with making single custom Chosens and I noticed something that's probably been there before and I just never noticed: If you try to customize the weapons to one of the pre-made ones, the game doesn't seem to recognize it properly?
ReplyDeleteLike, if you'd input "strips" as clothing options, the game would recognize that as strips of cloth rather than just strips, but inputting weapons don't seem to do the same, you just get a generic custom description and don't get the special little flavor texts.
It's not a big issue, but those little snippets of flavor texts are quite nice.
The way the game handles it is inconsistent, because that was one of the first things I programmed and I barely had any idea what I was doing. I definitely want to overhaul the system at some point and make it easier to access various special flavor texts. There are a few other things I want to do first, but better customization is a relatively high priority.
DeleteQuestion CsDev,
ReplyDeleteDo chosen have different Orgy scenes depending on the type of Orgy that occurs? Ie An Orgy with three Force Orgasm actions vs an Orgy with 3 Broadcast actions?
Rather than depending on how the Orgy was started, it just depends on which Vulnerabilities are broken. So, if all three Chosen have had Force Orgasm done to them in the past, there's a variant based on that, but it can show up regardless of how the Orgy started.
Deleteooooh I seeee. Hmm. Will we get a tempt varient? Or a varient for the new hate version of tempt?
ReplyDeleteCan't comment on subscribe star lol. So lets do it here.
ReplyDeleteGod this is gonna be so hooot. Hope we get those forsaken Vul breaks this month to make them more useful in the lewd sense. Hehe. Aversion sounds like it'll be a fun scene for us. Even if its not for the chosen in question
