Release 10: Duplicity

This update finally adds the upgraded versions of the defiler actions: Inseminate+, Force Orgasm+, Sodomize+/Torture+/Force Laughter+, and Broadcast+.  The upgraded version is accessed by using the base version on two targets at the same time, so it's difficult to pull off in the early game, but the rewards are substantial.  The two targets are attacked together (and in many cases, forced to attack each other), which results in a damage multiplier depending on how much they hate each other.  In addition, the upgraded actions deal three types of circumstance damage instead of merely two.

It took longer than expected to write this update, since the number of relationship, circumstance, personality, and content toggle combinations to account for is much higher in scenes with multiple Chosen.  I hope that exploring all the possibilities proves enjoyable!

  • Content: Added upgraded defiler actions when two Chosen are targeted by the same defiler action.
  • Content: Added a brief "Statistics" page to the profiles list unlocked by the Psychic Reading upgrade which currently just shows how much each opening type has contributed to surrounding each of the Chosen.  This was actually added in the previous release, but I forgot to note it in the changelog.  I'm interested in hearing what other information players would find useful.
Release 10b:
  • Bugfix: Attempting to perform upgraded defiler actions using the Networked Consciousness upgrade will no longer sometimes cause targets to escape early.
  • Bugfix: Projections of how many surround turns will be lost by performing an upgraded defiler action should now be accurate.
  • Bugfix: Use of Slaughter on the same turn as an upgraded defiler action begins will no longer desynchronize the surround durations of the Chosen involved.

  1. Nice, this looks interesting. Although what's Torture? I've seen Sodomize and I assume Force Laughter is the "tickle" version of it, but I don't think I've ever seen Torture as an option.

    1. I think Sodomize is when you use thralls to do it, and Torture is when you use Commander.

    2. Torture is the variant used against male Chosen, since Inseminate already targets their butts.

    1. Good luck, Anon. I hope your spreadsheet program of choice has good options for displaying very large numbers.

  3. One minor frustrating thing I've seen in the game is when one of the Chosen constantly alternates between using one of their third vulnerability skills (such as Slaughter), and Regenerate. They use the skill, increase the matching circumstance, then Regenerate and lower it to the previous level, and when they use the skill again it just brings it back to where it was, instead of increasing it higher. Is this intentional?

    1. It is intentional that it takes only the current circumstance level into account. It works the other way around, too, so that even if one of them is using Slaughter for the first time that battle, it can still add tens of thousands of HATE if they were already brought up to level 3 HATE beforehand.

  4. Somehow managed to hit an overflow bug in my latest (non-cheating) playthrough, where trauma managed to get extremely high. Currently Freedom is at 9.13E unresolved PAIN, 3.64E unresolved SHAM, and -5.65E Angst (+0 base damage). Happened after a prolonged battle with several upgraded defiler actions going off. I have the save file, if desired.

    1. Thanks for the bug report. I believe I've isolated the issue, so you shouldn't need to go to the trouble of uploading the file.

  5. "The vibrations of the plug up Seraph's ass force her to spasm in climaxNoticing the way that her wild"

Looks like you need a period and a space there. I probably wouldn't have noticed it at all, if the rest of your writing wasn't so polished.

    1. Thanks for catching this. I do try to keep the writing as polished as possible, but the sheer number of different variant texts that can interact with each other means that I'm reliant on player reports like yours to find all the cases of missing punctuation and such.

  6. Hey, just want to say that I just now submitted your game to have its own f95zone page. I feel like it is fun, rather unique and deserves to spread out more to the public. Just bringing it up here to make sure you don't miss it there. I believe you can also get ahead of the request and create a page for it yourself to be credited as the dev - I believe that website gets quite a bit of traffic, for what it's worth.

    Keep it up!

    1. Thanks for letting me know. Getting lots of traffic isn't my priority at the moment (since the game is still very incomplete), but feedback and player impressions are still useful for its development. I'll keep an eye on that thread and see how things turn out.

    3. You weren't kidding about the traffic. This month has already set the record for most hits on the blog. I'll make an account and head over there to answer questions shortly.

  7. Excellent work on the game so far. Just started playing it tonight and really loving it!

If you ever need any extra text or scenes written feel free to give me a shout. Happy to do some writing for free to help you out if you want it.

    Keep up the great work,

    1. Glad you're enjoying it! And thanks for the offer. I'm keeping this as a solo project for the time being, but I'll eventually open things up for people to add their own scenes or mods or whatever.

  9. I can't seem to actually play it. The file downloads, but it won't open.

    1. I can think of two things that might be preventing you from playing the game. First, the download file is compressed, so you need to extract it first with WinRAR: https://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

If you can't play it even after extracting, you might not have java installed: https://www.java.com/en/download/

  10. This has potential. I really like the team creation and giving the characters personalities. Really adds personality to the combat. Seeing them evolve and change over time. Good shit. Consider me a follower.
