Release 29: Negotiation

This update adds the third Distortion path, Negotiation.  It follows the previously-established pattern of selectively breaking some Vulnerabilities without breaking others, then doing something special to trigger the Distortion.  In this case, the player must break T2 Innocence and Confidence without breaking Morality or Dignity (except for T1 Morality).  Then after bringing the entire team to at least 1 billion ANGST, you will be able to begin the Distortion by offering a truce to the subject during a custom sex scene.

As you might surmise from that last requirement, this update also introduces the ability to have custom sex scenes with the Chosen.  Unlike the custom sex scenes with the Forsaken, your partner will have the ability to cut the scene short if she really doesn't like what you're doing with her.  Scenes with completely uncorrupted Chosen will generally be very short, but as you continue dealing Innocence and Confidence Breaks, they'll gradually grow more cooperative, whether to satisfy their own lust or in hopes of getting gentler treatment during battle.  You can start custom sex scenes with the Chosen from their Psychic Reading profiles, and there's no cost to doing so, which means that you might as well check with them periodically over the course of the game and see what they're willing to do with you.

The last notable addition is two more sex acts that may be used during custom scenes: oral sex and footjobs.  These were picked to go along with the small rebalance to the partner decision-making process which makes high-Deviancy, low-Obedience partners much more willing to perform "dominant" sex acts, even if they hate you.  These will probably come up frequently in encounters with half-broken Chosen.

Chosen who are broken with the Negotiation route get a bonus to PLEA and INJU damage, which can be quite a powerful combination, and depending on how many times you met with them as Chosen, they can end up with very high Obedience scores even without the usual required training.  I hope that everyone enjoys using the new tools at your disposal!

Release 28: Encounter

This update adds the "Meet" option for your Forsaken, a sort of minigame where you can have a detailed, step-by-step sex scene with them.  Each individual action is tracked, so if you start groping your partner, she might respond by pushing you down onto your back, and then it would be your turn to decide how to respond.  This is significantly different from the previous versions' sex scenes which proceed without much (if any) direct input from the player.

The relative position of the participants is tracked, and most body parts can only be used for one thing at once (so that, for example, if you're receiving a handjob, you need to have your partner stop before you can move on to outright sex).  The emotions and physical state of the participants are also tracked, and they're influenced strongly by your partner's personality and what you're doing to her.  In general, disobedient Forsaken will resist whatever you do while obedient ones will cooperate.  However, Forsaken who are turned on will be more inclined to do sexual things, and Forsaken who are angry or tired will want to stop.  This extends to the actions they choose for themselves: for the first time, Forsaken can offer their virginities to the player directly.

This system deliberately doesn't have too much interaction with the main gameplay loop.  It can be used to (for example) take a Forsaken's virginity in a gentle way that doesn't increase her Hostility score, but this is trivial to do and isn't meant to present a gameplay challenge.  Instead, it's meant as a way to get to know your Forsaken better and see what their various stats actually mean in terms of what they're willing to do for you.  The only main gameplay loop-related restriction is that you can't visit them more than once in a day, but this is just for flavor reasons.  You can relax and have a comfy time playing with your Forsaken as often or as little as you want.

The current list of available actions is quite short, but now that the framework has been programmed, adding more is very easy.  I'll be doing so immediately, as the next update will add the third Distortion path, which involves having custom sex scenes with the Chosen as well.

Release 27: Specialization

With this update, it is now possible to use the final tier of training actions on your captive Forsaken.  In addition to being a very efficient way to increase their expertise and manipulate their combat styles, these training actions also have unique effects that can be beneficial to the current loop in campaign mode, and they also unlock the ability for Forsaken to use powerful defiler abilities in the middle of a capture.

Content-wise, Forsaken defiler actions make up the bulk of the added text for this update.  Activating them has the same requirement as regular defiler actions (10k circumstance damage).  This is generally only practical to achieve in the last few rounds of the battle, and as a result, the number of turn-by-turn variants you'll see for any given Chosen-Forsaken matchup is pretty small.  But I put a lot of effort into adding unique descriptions and dialogue for each possible Chosen personality, Forsaken personality, Forsaken corruption state, and personal relationship between the Chosen and Forsaken (including the new "Obsession" relationship state), particularly when the Forsaken ends up being the first to break the Chosen's Vulnerability.  I hope that everyone will enjoy pitting lots of different combinations of Chosen and Forsaken against each other!

In addition to the regular four defilers, you can also give Forsaken who were broken using a Distortion path a couple of unique defiler actions with their own special rules.  Forsaken who fell to Temptation can help Tempt fresh Chosen in turn, and this is a particularly powerful option because it can be triggered in the middle of a commander capture (unlike the regular Tempt option, which requires you to let them escape and then surround them again).  Meanwhile, Forsaken who fell to Aversion can add their victims to a Defiler+ action in order to create an orgy, even if the victim isn't on the Aversion path herself.  These options should make Forsaken more powerful in the lategame.

This update also adds another face to the default portrait pack, and Kalloi's portrait pack has also gotten some significant updates.  The next update will add some more new ways to play with your Forsaken, so look forward to it!

Release 26: Aversion

This update adds the second Distortion path, Aversion.  Like Temptation, it involves selectively breaking some Vulnerabilities without breaking others, then performing a particular feat to begin the Distortion, but the similarities end there.  Beginning the Aversion path requires breaking T2 Morality and Confidence without breaking Innocence or Dignity (except for T1 Dignity).  Then, starting an Orgy that lasts at least 10 turns will trigger the Distortion.

Chosen on the Aversion path will become especially sensitive to future Orgies, their minds shutting down as they lack any of the usual ways to feel good about what's happening to them.  And if this can be triggered in the final battle, they'll experience a complete mental break, deluding themselves into adopting a new persona that doesn't mind what's happening to them.  Forsaken recruited with this method are especially resilient during training, and they get a bonus to dealing HATE and INJU damage.

The update also includes a new vignette requested by the subscriber Kalloi.  This one involves rival Chosen competing to determine who has the most sexual stamina.  It has five distinct possible outcomes depending on the relative Innocence corruption levels of the participants, all of which were quite entertaining to write.  I hope that everyone enjoys the new content!

Release 25: Reunion

It's now been two years since the first public release of Corrupted Saviors.  I'm grateful to everyone who's continued to follow the project up to this point.  The goal I set last year was to provide the player some satisfying payoff for successfully corrupting the Chosen, and while there's certainly still room to improve, I think that the Forsaken-related content is coming together nicely.  The coming year will be focused on providing more different ways for breaking the Chosen, from implementing more Distortion paths to adding more acknowledgement and reactions depending on the precise method the player uses (the order of the Breaks, whether Commanders or Forsaken are used, and so on).  One of the main draws of Corrupted Saviors as compared to other corruption games is the flexibility of the exact corruption path each character is subjected to, and I think it's important to build on that.

As for this update in particular, the main added feature is the ability to use custom Chosen in campaign mode.  In addition to importing existing teams, you can also create single custom Chosen using a new more in-depth customization process which also includes an option to directly input each personality value.  Rosters of custom Chosen can be exported from your save file and imported by other players, and in combination with the portrait system, I hope that this encourages everyone to check out the teams shared by other players and perhaps share some teams of their own.

During the code refactor to allow custom Chosen in campaign mode, it was also convenient to add the ability for Chosen who flee one loop's final battle to show up in later loops.  Chosen who have been thoroughly corrupted (i.e. at least one Total Break) will disappear after the final battle as detailed in their epilogues, but others will return to try to avenge or rescue their corrupted comrades.  These returning Chosen will be somewhat rehabilitated (they'll stop using Slaughter, Fantasize, etc. until you corrupt them again), but other corruption parameters (notably Tempt progress) will remain the same.  Furthermore, there are special interactions when you use a Forsaken former teammate against a returning Chosen.  If the relationship between the two was positive, this will cost extra Motivation, but the increased capture duration and damage are considerable.

Custom Superior Chosen and returning Superior Chosen will always remain Superior.  However, regular custom Chosen and returning Chosen can also end up being upgraded to the Superior class.  This provides some incentive for the player to follow the standard villain tactic of "I'll allow you to escape in order to become stronger and fight me again."

In lieu of adding new vignettes this month, I made some extra variants for the tier-3 Morality and Confidence Core Break scenes (i.e. the ones where the subject assaults one of her teammates).  Now, if the would-be victim is on the Tempt path, things won't quite go as the attacker had planned.  This will leave the corresponding Minor Vulnerabilities intact so that the scenes don't interfere with continuing the Tempt path.  The later Distortions, once they're added, will also come with alternative scenes which preserve the relevant Vulnerabilities.

Finally, one of the game's subscribers has also generously produced a complete portrait pack which I've linked in the sidebar.  Kalloi's portrait pack is notable for being all original art and for including separate civilian, Forsaken, and Superior variations, along with all combinations thereof.  I'm going to continue expanding the default portrait pack just because I think it's important for the game to stand on its own without separate downloads, but I strongly recommend that you all give it a try with the new update!

Release 24: Enhancement

This update adds the third tier of Forsaken training actions, which means that players can now increase the corruption levels of their Forsaken to almost 100%.  In most cases, the drawbacks of very high corruption are too heavy to be worthwhile, and the last tier of training actions will be specialized ones without much general utility.  The only major thing missing is the ability to train the Forsaken to use Defiler and Punisher actions, which will be coming in another update before too long.

However, before finishing that, I'm taking a detour to flesh out the relationship mechanics between Forsaken.  The first part of that made it into this update, as you can now leverage your Forsaken's relationships with each other to make them more compliant with your training.  When two Forsaken strongly care about each other (which currently only happens with Forsaken who were on a team together and have a friendly relationship), they'll each obey you more often in hopes that you'll be kind to the other.  However, the flipside of this is that training one to a higher Obedience level will make the other angry, and sacrificing one will make the other even angrier.  This should add some more depth to deciding which Forsaken to use.  More relationships and more ways to use them to influence Forsaken (for example, torturing a rival in order to make a high-Hostility Forsaken happy) will be coming as soon as I can figure out how to balance the mechanics.

There's also the usual set of bugfixes and minor content additions.  The portrait pack added last version now has 2 new faces.  There are also two new vignettes.  The first new vignettes is a sex scene involving the Core Morality Chosen and the Significant Morality Chosen once they've both developed a rivalry, started using sexual service in battle, and are moderately traumatized.  The second is a scene involving the Minor Morality Chosen once she has enough trauma to start considering tier-1 sinful downtime actions.  Enjoy!

Release 23: Visualization

With this release, the game is now capable of displaying portraits for the Chosen and the Forsaken.  Every time the subject takes an action in combat, is targeted by an action in combat, appears in a post-battle scene, or generally makes an appearance, a portrait showing the character feeling an appropriate emotion will be shown.  The default portraits included in the game probably won't match up to how the player has been envisioning any particular Chosen, and the feature may be toggled off for those who prefer to leave things purely to their own imagination.  However, I encourage everyone to give it a try and see how it works, as the system is designed to be very easily customizable so that players can crop whatever images they find more fitting and display those in-game.

The current default portrait set includes only 8 different faces (each with its own set of expressions).  They're set up so that you'll never encounter duplicate faces on a single team of 3 Chosen, but anyone who plays Campaign Mode or otherwise uses Forsaken will eventually end up pitting someone against her mirror image.  I intend to continue making more portrait sets alongside the regular monthly content for the game, but in the meantime, I'm hopeful that players will make some of their own portrait sets for each other to use.  I'd be happy to host them here on the blog.

This update also has a bit of content for players who aren't at all interested in using portraits.  In addition to the usual handful of bugfixes and balance adjustments, there are two new vignettes.  The first happens when the Chosen with moderate Morality hits a decent trauma threshold, which should be a sign to the player that it's time to start trying for more sinful downtime actions.  The second is a scene between the Chosen with Core Morality and the one with Minor Morality which fires when they're both significantly corrupted and hate each other.  After all the scenes between friendly Chosen, it seemed like players who prefer to make their Chosen enemies should get something as well.  I hope that everyone enjoys this update!
